Dick is in good company on this one. TECHWR-L once ran a poll question,
"What is the single most important skill set for technical writers to have?"
Of the 1300 votes received, the results were as follows:

Writing/editing skills: 62.77%
Interpersonal skills: 15.23%
Technical skills that relate to the product: 10.23%
Tools skills (Frame, RoboHelp, etc.): 6.92%
Other/None of the above: 4.85%
