It implies that an English degree is quite limited in the job market. When I was persuing a degree, I didn't want one in English because the only job I could see doing with that degree was "Teacher." It takes a special breed for that. I am not a Teacher. I was offered a degree in "Professional Writing." Now that had some meat to it, although it was offered by the English Department. I wonder if a survey has been done in this group on how many Tech Writers have degrees in English. I bet there is quite a few.
