Your situation is unusual, but strikes me more as a luxury than a
hindrance. But if you want to get some people fired, you can probably make
a pretty good case for it - you could certainly save money by
consolidating writing and layout responsibilities.

Saving money is not a sure thing at all. It's a possibility, and it is likely to result in tradeoffs in productivity or quality.


Kinda puts things into perspective about how people who aren't tech
writers have no problem eliminating our jobs, doesn't it? But that's the
way business is done, always seeking the most efficient methods.
Interesting conundrum - good luck with it!

Or not being done at all, resulting in a problem for the _next_ manager after the current cost cutter moves on to eviscerate some other company and get paid handsomely for doing so.
