Yup, Word is a perfectly good tool for many writing scenarios, when used
by somebody who's taken the time to learn how it works.

One thing: you don't need to include that additional Notepad step. You can
either use Edit, Paste Special, Unformatted Text, or use the nifty tool
that I just learned about here a couple weeks ago: PureText, a great
little utility that lets you create a keystroke shortcut for pasting
unformatted text.
