The source of my 'rumour' is a work colleague. As far
as I know his source was another work colleague in a
sister company (that comes under the same parent
organisation as the company I work for), but based in
another country (Holland - I am in Ireland). It is
possible to establish where the person in Holland
heard about this, but what if this person heard it
from an external contractor, who heard it from a
client etc etc.? Basically if we followed the trail,
we would either get to the original source of the
rumour or possibly get lost somewhere along the way. I
acknowledge the validity of what you are saying, but I
am not sure how well it would work in practice. The
reality is that when discussing things people
sometimes distort the story somewhat. I was just
trying to establish the truth or otherwise of what I
had heard in regard to the future of Framemaker. I am
relatively new to the field of technical
communication, so I would not have heard about the
"rumour" in its original guise. From David Farbey's
comment, it would appear that there is some substance
to the rumour.

Tom.
