I'm glad the article was useful.
One thing I didn't mention in the article was that I've written 8 or 9 manuals in OpenOffice.org.
As you might expect, I found a few quirks that needed working through. However, what software doesn't have its quirks? There was nothing very serious, though.
I should also mention that one of the reasons why I think that OOo a good FrameMaker replacement is that both programs, unlike MS Word, seem oriented to page layouts and long documents. In many ways, the logic behind the programs is similar - although users can sometimes be tripped up differences.
