I say:
Well, Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants and so forth
are Capitol-P-Professionals. Programmer/Analysts, Writers, Executives
and so forth are not Capitol-P-Professionals (although one expects them
to act in a lower-case-p-professional manner).

Rule of Thumb: Professionals can sign your passport.
