ANNOUNCE: Online Advisory Group - Call for Volunteers

I'm looking for industry personnel as occasional volunteers for our online
Advisory Group (for the Technical Communication Certificate Program -
online).

We are a mid-size University-College with the main campus located on
Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Our new Technical
Communication Certificate program is going to Education Council's
Curriculum Committee for review and final approval within the next few
months.

Our Advisory Group will be meeting online on an ongoing basis to ensure
that the Technical Communication Program is on track for meeting student
and industry needs. An Advisory Group should consist of representation by
some of the following resources:

- employers
- students
- professional bodies (eg. STC)
- individuals working in the field of training
- relevant departmental representatives at Malaspina University-College
- course developers/service contractor

We have some of the above representatives, but need some more industry
representation. I'm hoping to get someone who has worked, or currently
works in an area where there is a lot of technical writing taking place,
so that they can give us input into current indsutry requirements for
technical writers.

Representatives are volunteers, with appointments in place for three years
(unless they need to opt out).

Time commitment is minimal, since the Advisory Group is meeting through
WebCT online dicussion. Representatives are expected to give input to
program, curriculum, industry and related information from time to time
and to check into the online forum at least twice per month for updates.

WORKSHOP: Attend the new "FrameMaker and XML: Advanced Techniques
workshop on February 15th

Wrestling with DTD and EDD setup? Hear how to do things right and
troubleshoot when things go wrong... Struggling with your FrameMaker
structured application? Find out how the application works and how to
troubleshoot error messages... Wrestling with read/write rules? Learn
about the many things you can -- and cannot -- do with read/write rules,
and how automate creation by writing structured read/write rules.

Bright Path Solutions and Text Structure Consulting, Inc. are pleased to

situations. You are encouraged to bring your own FrameMaker XML
applications and apply the learned techniques during the seminar. You
will have the opportunity to ask questions about your application.

Workshop Title: FrameMaker and XML: Advanced Techniques
