I don't think writing tests based on a few minutes exposure to a product are of any use - most good writers will take time to
become familiar with a product before even putting pen to paper (or finger to keyboard). The only time this would be in any
way significant would be if you were assessing their ability to interpret code.

I prefer to give interviewees an editing test - their ability to spot the worst (or sometimes the minor) offences against the
language is usually a good indicator of their writing skills.
