You should be shadowing other writers there and not just working on
your own. If I were you I'd ask one of them to help you with this...
this is, after all, why you're interning... to learn the skills you'll
need for when you *are* on your own.

Yes, there are plenty of books on the subject. I suggest Managing Your
Documentation Projects by JoAnn Hackos.
