TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Since Tony asked me directly what makes me unique as a techwriter:
I have an active sense of humor when confronted by b.s., and (usually)
the tact to keep from laughing out loud at the least appropriate
times.
(I find this helps greatly in dealing with the self-important, the
tedious, and those who suffer under the misapprehension that the world
revolves around *them*...)
Secondly, I have spoken with hundreds of tech writers personally, and
have yet to find one that thinks that the profession begins and ends
with DFDs outside the rarified atmosphere of a mail list.
