Tony rambles on:
"Last time I looked at the text book being used for Data Processing 101
at the local junior college, Data Flow Diagrams were featured. It
really is not pie-in-the-sky stuff."
Ummm, you I think the vast majority of us also went to skool fer this
stuff too dude. I certainly did, and in the four or so years I was in
college (two at a community and technical college and two more at a
university), DFD's did not come up once. Were flow charts and network
diagrams mentioned, of course they were.
It may just be an issue of semantics. But you (Tony) did not really
answer the question, you more or less side-swiped it. So again, if so
many of us on this list that went to skool fer tech writing do not have
the <depth> of DFD knowledge that you <possess>, what are the odds that
an interviewer will? I would bet the odds are extremely low.
In my own humble opinion, I think mentioning DFD's in a job interview
would get approximately the deer in the headlights look from the
interviewer and most likely a "huh?" or a "and DFD's are what exactly?"
"Of course that just my opinion, I could be wrong"
