The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Dick Margulis writes that "When a professional
engineer (licensed PE) signs a piece of work," the
engineer is taking full responsibility for the work.
Is the engineer's signature on the building itself
where all "users" can see it?
I have signed documents taking responsibility for my
work, but those are internal document signoff forms.
They are filed along with forms for everyone taking
responsibility for their portion of the product
release. My name does not, however, appear on the
document.
Some people mentioned putting their name in screen
captures. Where allowed, I sometimes use my name (or
variants) in screen captures. But in some places Legal
does not want any recognizable names in screen
captures.
