NDAs are quite common. I worked at one place for over six years and I'd
nothing in my portfolio to show for the time. Fortunately I had other
samples and the fact I'd no samples was accepted due to the nature of
the work I was doing (and the company I worked for). I think that the
fact I was still there after six years was also seen as a plus.
