TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Rahul, dude, I LOVE the way you write. What somebody called "misusage"
(??) I think is your novel way to use language. These archives contain
ten thousand posts about how tech writers are misunderstood and don't
get any respect, and you found a new way to say it, from a new
perspective. I don't think I misunderstood anything you wrote due to
your language, and I enjoyed it. I hope you write in again (just don't
write tech manuals with the same style!)
In my (admittedly uninformed) opinion, the Indian tech writing
community is going through the same steps its US counterpart did during
the US tech expansion in the '90s. We explored how to increase our
visibility and standing in the workplace through professional
societies, certification, and customer education. In my opinion, none
of that worked. Individual tech writers (such as myself) adopted an
every-man-for-himself approach and divorced ourselves from organized
tech writing, and focused on building our own technical skills and
busines networks and relationships. Maybe the same will happen in
India? I could be way wrong, so I'd appreciate your thoughts, or
anybody else's.
Mike O.
