We thought we understood it, that it could not possibly work.
It was too far beyond the state of the art, and we KNEW the
state of the art.

We underestimated management. They announced it anyhow, and
the stock price soared. They sold their stock. The price
plummetted when the metaphors came home to roost. No wonder
we had been asked to produce "overnight miracle" docs but to
not worry about whether they were correct.
