Lou has a valid point, but a couple of things to consider...
1. You mentioned small captures, I assume you mean file size. If you
use the alt-prtsc technique, the capture is made at your current color
depth. This means if you are using 32-bit or 16-bit color, your files
are going to be larger than you need.
2. If you think time=money, SnagIt (or some other tool) pays for
itself VERY quickly. Download the trial and give it a shot, see how
much time you will save.
My favorite feature is the ability for it to convert the color depth.
I set it to convert every screen cap to 8-bit color (if the output
will include online) or grayscale. Saves me a ton of time.
My only connection to SnagIt is longtime, happy customer. And they are
also a list sponser (or were a list sponser at least).
