Luckily, this requires no body parts. All it takes is motivation, a few good books, and a copy of Visual Studio, which can be had for less than $100 on ebay and elsewhere. Before I started writing hardware documentation I taught myself enough Java and C++ to write my own code examples, which goes pretty far with software developers (and recruiters, for that matter).

I sometimes have to stop and remember that I got into this business in the first place to learn new things.

I'd give the tip of my pinky of my left hand to have a senior
developer-level knowledge of .NET
