Subject:zzHeader, zzFooter, etc. From:Chuck Martin <cm -at- writeforyou -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Fri, 13 May 2005 15:23:02 -0700
I've don'e searches with no results, searches on Adobe, Google, and the
TECHWR-L archives.
I'm designing templates in FrameMaker (7.1/Windows) from scratch because
the previous occupant of this seat created overly complex templates with
way, way too many styles. Well, not actualy from scratch; I'm using the
FM book templates as a jumping-off point.
But I'm puzzled when it comes to the paragrph styles of the headers and
footers. Specifically, they don't appear in the Paragraph Catalog.
Yet when I click within the paragrap(s) on a master page and then go to
the Paragraph Designer dialog box, that style is in the Paragraph Tag
drop-down list. None of the others are though.
For example, I put my cursor in the header and open the Paragraph
Designer dialog box. zzHeader is in the Paragraph Tag drop-down as the
selected item. I then put my cursor in the footer of the Left page and
the Paragraph Tag changes to zzFooterLeft. There's also a zzFooterRight.
I cannot find these tags documented anywhere. Nor are they in any list
that I can find when my cursor actually isn't in a paragraph of those types.
The reason for all this? There are separate tags for right and left
foters, but only a single tag for headers. I want separate right and
left header tags too.
If I did not fear breaking something, I might try to create the tags
using what seems to be the existing nomenclature: zzHeaderLeft and
zzHeaderRight. But I thought I'd inquire here first (late on a Friday,
of course) (a) to see if my thoughts are headed in the right direction
and (b) to see if anyone knows where documentation or other information
about these paragraph formats might reside.
