For God's sake why the naivete? Companies don't radically change your
pay method just so they can continue to pay you the same amount. They
don't do it because they suddenly value your time more highly. They do
it so they can pay you LESS, even if the diminished compensation isn't
immediately obvious.

There are lots of good reasons people might happily accept diminished
pay, but no reason for them to be unaware it is happening.
