I was going to ask if there was any special reason to use a DNS, but
after checking out one of the DNS companies, I guess the answer is they
can help keep your site up? And there's a lot less work to it?
You don't need separate DNS, it's extra control.
I'm gonna write this up differently one day soon. It seems so much more gnarly than it is, and that isn't the consumer's fault. Honestly, once you *get it* and penetrate the jargon and misdirection, it's just a matter of managing a remote filesystem like your local one, plus a thin layer of network stuff.
If you use OS X or Linux you *see* the network every day, in ways that Windows chooses to hide. UNIX-y systems assume a network. Bringing that perspective to everyday Windows users is worth doing. It's there, just cloaked.
