I would strongly recommend that you are dresses for the phone
interview as if you were in a face-to-face interview. Sit up straight
and smile. All this will come through over the phone.

I don't know that attire has any effect. I work in jeans and t-shirt, most days, so that's probably what I'll wear in a phone interview, too.

But you're absolutely right about posture, facial expression, and tone of voice. They do make a real difference.
