This person (David the Ib Ibbetson) died earlier this year and I put
together a short ppt presentation about him which can be downloaded from
the CopyEditing site (copyediting-l.info). If you're not running
PowerPoint, you will probably need to download the free viewer from the
Microsoft site.
David Ibbetson worked in computers (as a statistician, not as a
technical writer) and he was a member of the techwr-l community before
(pre 1998). I learned about him from CEL (CopyEditing).
There probably are some list old timers who remember him. He is very
well-remembered on CEL.
Anyway, his knowledge of English was exceptional.
