Is it meta data?
Or Meta data?
Or meta-data?
Or Meta-data?
Or metadata?

I know, I can pick one and use it consistently, but I'm wondering whether
there's a good reason to prefer one format over the others. Several Web
sites I've checked are inconsistent in their use.

I'm leaning toward meta-data.

Thanks,
Joyce
