LOL! Well, there's a comparison for ya!
Someone yesterday pointed out that trademarks should only
be used as adjectives, and that's true. But sticking a
definite article in front of the product name doesn't
accomplish this - elegantly or otherwise.
To be absolutely positively correct, you should say "the
Microsoft Word word processor" or "the XYZ application", not just Microsoft Word or XYZ. But really, who's going to
write like that? And what users are going to put up with
that writing style.
I stand by my original opinion - no article.
