If I might chime in. I contributed to a book that is designed as a series
of tutorials. It may fit your description in your post about finding a book
above the beginner level...that still starts with beginning background data
and move into more advanced concepts. The book is called "Advanced
FrameMaker" Each chapter addresses a FrameMaker topic (variables, tables of
contents, PDF, etc.) and explains how it works and what some of the tips and
tricks are.
Brad Anderson, Bernard Aschwanden, Bob Kern, and I contributed the
chapters... I think there are about 20. If you are interested, the book is
on Amazon.com and is called "Advanced FrameMaker." You should be able to
find it by that name, or by the names of each of the contributing authors.

I'll also say that I've used some of the Adobe Classroom in a Books,
including several FrameMaker versions, one for Acrobat, and one for ...
GoLive I think it was. I think that the downside of the CIAB is that
sometimes the "why" is missing from steps. But, that could be said about
many books. The upside of the CIAB series is that many of the sample files
are pretty complex and provide good examples of the possibilities...plus
they are fun to take apart and try to figure out.
Best of luck to you,
Kay

Folks,
I know Framemaker well enough to edit a doc, but need to learn more, so I'm
looking for book recommendations. I have often found that finding an
intermediate book is difficult - beginner books that repeat things I already
know and expert books that leave me scratching my head seem easy to find.
I'll be starting with paper docs, but moving onto web projects.
