Thank you all for your excellent posts --- extremely helpful in many
ways. And stock options, for example, never would have occured to me
(let alone an extra day off!).

Regarding moonlighting to see how I like it, the company will be
investing several months in training the new person on the
product/equipment, and hope to avoid losing that time and money. They
want to make it a permanent match, though contracting and off-hours
are fine with them for a couple months to transition, if needed.

Your experiences and thoughts are invaluable.
