True, the existing standards may not be, but the new sets of standards that
Linda referenced will include specifics for people who are developing both
user documentation and software development lifecycle documentation. The first
two pieces will be a standard for doc managers (how to do a content plan,
how to do audience analysis and testing and metrics, etc.) and a standard for
the designers/developers for the documents themselves (not quite underway,
but it will be soon!) It's an interesting, truly international project with a
growing list of authors and reviewers from all over the world.
