Regarding this specific case, a training consultant was in contact with a documentation department (not mine) that is going to send him Framemaker files, and he wanted to take pieces of it to build his training support.
I was also wondering if there was a way to share documentation with other services (marketing, training...)
Actually, I like the PDF solution too, but my R&D manager doesn't because it's difficult for other people to change the content. :-(
I don't want other people to change what I am writing !
That's why I am still trying to convince my managers that Framemaker would be much better for me than the horrible Word...
Anyway, thanks for your answers.
Claire

Frame files are a proprietary format that, so far as I know, isn't supported by any other application.
FrameReader and FrameViewer are still available on the Adobe www site download page... I have no idea if these guys have been revved to support the latest versions of Frame files.
However, they're a way poor second to Acrobat. Because you can distill to a .pdf from Frame without purchasing Acrobat itself and because Acrobat Reader is also free, it's a much more powerful and elegant solution. And, it is free.
Is there a mechanical reason you want to avoid .pdfs? The format is pretty much a publishing industry standard in the US.
