Re: Blogs replace newsletters?

Lots of interesting comments on the value of
blogs...though I never read one unless someone sends
me a link and a persuasive message to check it out.
Same attitude with 'interesting' articles on web
sites, in print media, etc. 

One advantage to print media is that it costs money to
print a newsletter. This introduces a filtering
process similar to the publishing industry: editors
check the quality and validity, because the publisher
has a reputation to protect. On a blog, the QC is
performed by the initial author and any future
contributors - a system I like because it can
counteract media bias, but dislike because anyone can
blog, whether they know what they're talking about or
not. 

The end result is that the only blogs I can trust are
those that are widely-known and seem to be
well-respected...but then they're not much different
from a newsletter from a widely-known, well-respected
source. 

And then there's my other question: Why blog?
