em dashes, en dashes, and hyphens in help / intranet / internet documentation
Subject:em dashes, en dashes, and hyphens in help / intranet / internet documentation From:John Cook <john -dot- cook -at- gmail -dot- com> To:TECHWR-L <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Mon, 28 Nov 2005 13:13:19 -0600
Hi, everyone:
I've posted this on another list and would like to expand that
discussion out over here.
I'm currently working on a long-term contract and am putting together
the first draft of a style guide for contractors to use at our client
company (and presumably for the client company to use, as well, for
their own internal edification if they so desire).
What is the current thinking on em dashes, en dashes, and hyphens with
regard to documentation that will primarily be published via .pdf,
Help, and HTML pages for Intranet / Internet?
I'll hang up now and listen to the conversation. ; )
