* The best techincal communications are so simple and
straight forward that they (typically management) will
wonder what took you (the writer) so long. This in
large parts explains why effective tech comm is rare.

* Writing is a relatively small part of creating
effective tech comm. However, many tech comm managers
hire largely based on writing skills. This also
explains why tech comm is often of poor quality.

* Good tech comm is minimal tech comm to meet needs.
However, many (probably most) tech comm project
estimating efforts are based on page count. This
results in another hit to quality.
