Aha! That's different.

With a cursor in the cell, look up at the tab ruler. You'll see the 
marker for the right margin off to the right, in the gray area, rather 
than in the white ruler area.

Now look at the paragraph format and you'll see that the right margin is

set at a negative number (I think). You may also see a positive left 
margin (an indent that you use for your regular text blocks), which is 
probably the actual culprit. If you can't drag the marker into the tab 
ruler, at least you can manually change the margins to zero.

But the real solution is to set up a style, called TableCell, for 
example, that has zero left and right margins. Then apply that style to 
each cell.
