Hmm. The pain is familiar -- dealing with other folks not doing things
consistently. Have you tried informing them that this causes you
grief? They may not care, but if you can couch it in terms of
"standardization saves time and money" then maybe someone will listen.
If not, the first idea I had was to automate import into Word and save
the file as plain text. Word's save-as-plain-text always resolves
those kind of issues.
