Problem with Page Numbering Field Codes

Oh Great Word Oracle, I need your help please.

I have written a set of nested Field Codes that number pages thus:

1 of 10
2 of 10
...
10 (End of Document)


The code looks like this:

   {IF { Page } = { NumPages } "{ Page \* Arabic \* MergeFormat } (End
   of Document)" "{ Page \* Arabic \* MergeFormat } of { NumPages \*
   Arabic \* MergeFormat }" }

It's been working well except for one document. The document has 101 
pages. Some pages look like this:

30 of 101101
31 of 10192
32 pf 101101
33 of 10192
...
101 (End of Document)

I am using Windows XP SP2 with Word 2003 SP2. Any ideas as to why this 
occurs?
