I keep a copy of Scot Hacker's "The BeOS Bible" on my bookshelf at
work to remind me what clear, effortless writing for a technical
audience can be. The OS is long since mothballed, but the writing in
Scot's tome is both instructive and entertaining. He has a clean,
understandable voice, and while his style is more casual than most
applications will allow, it is what I refer to when I'm looking for
inspiration.
