A few years ago, a writer on my time completed the Abreve training and
applied it to a project. We saw word count reductions of 25-30%. (I'm
relying on memory.) We extrapolated that savings across the whole
project and determined that the training would more than pay for
itself in translations savings for just one language. We also did some
rudimentary usability testing and confirmed that the doc was as good
as, if not bettern than, the earlier version.

We discontinued the project for reasons external to Abreve
(acquisitions, reorgs, etc.).
