One of my favorite little "making traveling easier" manuals
are the Marling Menu Master series: they are guides available
for various countries that translate typical dishes on the
host country's menus into English and tell you what's normally
in them. These were invaluable when I traveled to Europe a few
years ago with a companion who was allergic to a stunning
variety of things (all dairy products, tomatoes, garlic, wheat -
try going to Italy being allergic to those!).
