My understanding of "implied" tolerance as brought to light in this thread
was concerning rounding error. Something that should NEVER exists in
engineering drawings. Based on that definition, there is no such thing as
"implied" tolerances.

However, what Gene and Geoff are arguing are the same thing. Just from
different perspectives. One from a knowledge of engineering standards and
one from shop folklore concerning standard tolerances. No need for
disagreement folks!

Only danger is when the shop hands refuse to abandon shop folklore for
engineering demands. But, then again, shop folklore often trumps
engineering theory.
