Um, no. User interface design is all about designing to meet users'
goals. If a series of "jump-to"s achieves the goal with minimal
confusion (do you use software to do your taxes?) then the UI was
successful.

Selecting idioms? You don't select idioms. They present themselves and
you evaluate design based on what you know of the target users.
