I do a lot of work for the government, the Kings of Cliché. At the end of the day they have to determine if they have a dog in the fight or if everyone is just straphangers.I've never seen that use of "straphangers", and it seems counterintuitive (in government? noooo...).
A straphanger is someone committed to being on board even though they know from the beginning that they will not be one of the privileged few and that they are going to get pushed around a lot.
Yay, straphangers.
