Rather than going thru the table to text to table complexity,
have you tried just pasting the text into a new table? I do
this all the time - especially when the table formatting I
want to use is more complex than "full grid black lines".

Try this...

Create a table and draw it the way you want it to look,
including header rows and custom borders. Save a copy of the
empty table, either as autotext or just make a copy (to
reuse). Move the empty table adjacent to the table you're
having problems with, and add rows until the new, empty
table has the same number of rows and columns as the old
table.

Now that that's done, go to the old table, highlight just
one column, cut or copy the text, highlight the corresponding
column in the new table and paste. If that works, try doing
two columns at a time to make things go faster. <G>
