Bill wrote earlier today on this thread, "Rhetoric is the study of the
technique and rules for using language effectively."

Kelly wrote earlier today on this thread, "Rhetoric is the art (or
technique) of communicating effectively. Kinda sounds like technical
communication."

Rhetoric goes way beyond "persuasion" and "influence," and the use of
those terms below suggest a failure to carefully read the thread. Unless
those terms are being used... rhetorically?
