>>1. How aware are you of color blindness?
Very. While I was working there, Oracle did a major push for
accessibility of their software.

>>2. How much do you understand about color blindness (causes,
misconceptions, results)?
That's a hard one to answer. I know that there is more than one
type of CB. I assume that it has a genetic
cause, but whether it involves the photoreceptor mechanism in the
eye or some other part of the visual system,
I don't know. I did study the biochemistry of vision, but that most
involved the molecule that actually
absorbs light.

>>3. How much of an affect and what affects do you believe color
blindness has on your audience.
Well, don't know the *effects* of CB on my audience, but I do try
to avoid using color as the sole indication
of something in the UI. Color is not only CB-specific, but
culture-specific as well.

>>4. What steps do you take to limit the problems caused by color
blindness?
For HTML, I use the accessibility checking in Dreamweaver.

>>5. (This one is just for my own kicks and giggles) Are you or a
technical communicator you know color blind?
Yes, a former manager of mine.

Thanks all,

Dave
