The best way to find out what the title might mean is to ask.

That said, here are some things the title Documentation Architect evokes
for me:

- Create/refine documentation strategy
Things like: what types of documents, delivered in what forms
- Determine technologies to create and deliver the documentation
Things like: Framemaker, XML, CMS, web tools, help tools
- Monitor upcoming products and changes to understand new directions,
and revise document strategy appropriately
-Set standards around document formats, content design, and terms to be
used within the documentation

Not to say that you necessarily would do all of this yourself, but you'd
make the final calls on direction. I see it as analogous to a software
architect - setting direction both conceptually and technically.

And of course, don't forget you'll probably still have responsibilities
for delivering content, too.
