Usually I don't refer to it in documentation. I just say, "Click on the + to expand the [name] tree." But, in speaking, we call it a "plus" ("sign" is redundent).

Hi everyone...

What would be the "proper" term for the plus sign used to collapse or expand the list in a navigation tree?

Is it just "the plus sign"? or is there something better? One of my QA guys just asked me what it's called, and I couldn't even think of it.
