Re: Are .bmp files really that bad?
The only issue I can think of is file size. BMP files are considerably
larger than PNG or GIF. May not be worht the effort if you have
enough disk apce.

File size may not be an issue after the PDF is generated, depending on the compression settings selected for Distiller.
However, .bmp is limited to a 16-color palette. This may or may not be problematic, depending on whether color is involved in the first place and depending on what colors are used in the interface.
