T.S. Eliot purportedly said, "Most editors are failed writers.
But then, so are most writers."

I'm willing to bet that similarly, most poets doing technical
writing are doing bad technical writing. But then most poets
are doing bad poetry, and most technical writers-- no, I wouldn't
dare say most but a lot of technical writers-- are doing bad
technical writing.
