I really need to be able to pull this [LaTeX-generated PDF] material

Sarah:

Are you sure? I don't use InDesign, but this overview from Adobe's
website says that it can import PDF files:

http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/pdfs/indesign_overview.pdf

It can import them one page at a time as graphics to place on a page, not as editable text.

Sarah, I'd suggest going by way of HTML rather than beating yourself over the head to go through RTF.
