I've had all of these things happen to me in FrameMaker as well
as Word. Also in Ventura, Quark and Wordperfect. The only WP
or DTP programs I've ever used that I can say never corrupted a
document on me were the UNIX and DOS flavors of Interleaf 5.

Writing documentation in FrameMaker poses its own set of problems, as
does writing documentation directly in a markup language in a text
editor; however, in neither of those environments have I suddenly had,
for example, numbered lists Just Stop Working, or stylesheets
mysteriously become corrupted, and so forth.
